The Ottawa Seniors' Health and Wellness Guide
​
In conjunction with the Jewish Youth Library of Ottawa (www.jewishyouthlibrary.com) and funding from New Horizons for Seniors Program.
​
This resource will be a comprehensive bilingual guide created for seniors by seniors.  Available in both print and online versions, it will include information such as featured recipes, stories and photos submitted by Ottawa seniors. 

​

The Health and Wellness Guide will:
- Showcase a special and unique way for Ottawa seniors to participate in an enriching program where their knowledge and experience in relation to cooking and health will be passed on to others

- support social participation and inclusion for seniors by involving them in the project's development in a meaningful way
-have an emphasis on healthy aging and healthy living through the help and consultation of a fitness and nutritionist expert.

The next Schedule for the upcoming Recipes is:

​

Wednesday October 10, 10 am - 2 pm:  Beet and carrot salad (appetizer), Beet Gazpacho (appetizer), Raita Dip (side), Potato Beef Stew (main), Apple Cheddar Cornbread (dessert) 

 

Tuesday October 16, 1:30 pm -3: pm: Fitness Discussion and Class With Debora Sloan. Come with a towel or mat, a bottle of water and any wellness-related questions for Debora and she will do her best to offer you some advice!

 

Thursday October 25, 10 am - 2 pm: Veggie Pate (appetizer), One Pot Chicken Dinner (main), Vegetable Pulao (main), Eenie Meenie Fettuccini (main), Small Healthy Muffin (dessert) 

 

Thursday November 8, 10 am - 2 pm: Broccoli Pasta (appetizer), Butternut Squash Red Lentil Stew (main), Chicken Stir fry (main), Date Squares (dessert), Omega 3 Cheddar Zucchini Bread (dessert)
