Elder abuse is a growing concern throughout the world. Every year hundreds of thousands of seniors in Canada are abused, neglected, exploited or taken advantage of. Elder abuse can take several different forms, from physical abuse to financial exploitation. This workshop will look at some of the different types of elder abuse in Canada, the process of recognition over the years, the rights of seniors, targeted crimes, risk factors and prevention methods.
